Zomi Association of United States (ZAUS) is an emerging non-profit organization established on March of
2009 and is registered with the State of Oregon. Registry Number: 593147-90. EIN: 26-4574969 (04-01-
2009). Zomi Association of United States vision is to help build Zomi community in Portland and connect
with other Zomi in the United States and network with Zomi associations worldwide. Associate with other
communities on issues of mutual interest, regardless of their ethnic background or national origin. The
mission of the Zomi Association USA is strengthening Zomi immigrants and refugees through community
development and advocacy for human rights. Its mission is to serve the Zomi community and assist
families and individuals to achieve self-sufficiency. Zomi have been coming to United States of America
primarily in the last five years from Burma due to religious and racial persecution by the military ruling
junta. Many have come from refugee camps in Thailand, Malaysia and India, and are seeking a new life in
